Soma Wolverine
The Wolverine is the newest frame from Soma Fabrication, based in San Francisco, California. Made of Tange Prestige steel, it's got that timeless look. No hydroforming and curvy tube stuff here. Despite being a simple looking frame, it has heaps of features.
In their own words, "The original inspiration for the Wolverine was "monster cross", but it is seriously so much more. Its geometry is stable enough for off road touring, but sporty enough for all-around adventure."
Monster cross is basically a cyclocross bike on 29er sized tyres. We tested a set of Ikon 2.1s on Stan's Arch EX's and they cleared the rear chainstays fine and had plenty of room in the fork. So, it's a fat-tyred off-road dropbar bike good for light touring, commuting, cyclocross, randonneuring, brevets, single-track, gravel, etc. Geared, single-speed, internal gear hub and even belt drive. Unlimited possibilities!
They're really popular and Soma can't make them fast enough. We waited for months for our first one to arrive and it was sold within a week.
Behold...
The Wolverine is a beautiful bike with endless possibilities. With a RRP of $1099, it perfectly represents Soma's "individuality made affordable" philosophy. This one is 56cm. Geometry is here.
