Giant's 2016 mountain bikes are here!

Giant just announced their 2016 lineup In Melbourne last week and it's looking pretty darn good. The overall look is a lot brighter with Giant using their new performance logo throughout - we've heard nothing but praise for the new colour schemes.

Spec-wise, there is lots of 1x11 drivetrains with Shimano's new XT 1x11 featuring heavily. Solid upgrades in fork spec across the range, especially with the new Fox 34 being fitted to the Trance lineup along with the new Float DPS rear shock - no more 32mm legged forks! A redesigned Giant dropper post with Zero offset, new two-bolt clamp, better adjustability and smoother action.

27.5 wheels feature heavily in the lineup again for 2016, but 29er isn't forgotten about the Anthem and XTC hard tails getting new frame features for 2016.

The only downside for the coming season is the pricing, with the continued dropping NZD prices have risen on average 10-15%, but Giant will not be alone on this as it will effect all bike brands and goods imported into NZ.

The Reign is a serious Enduro bike, aggressive geometry with 160mm of travel that likes going downhill. Re-released to the market in 2015 the Reign has quickly become one of the most popular bikes with the Enduro crowd.

Reign 2 - Lightweight aluminum frame fitted to a RockShox Pike RC fork with Monarch R Debonair shock. Shimano SLX 2x10 drivetrain, Giant Contact SL Switch dropper post with Giant's PAM-2 wheelset. The starting model Reign 2 will be a winner again for 2016 in the Enduro market.	Reign Advanced 1 - Composite main frame with an aluminum swingarm fitted to a RockShox Pike RC Dual position fork with Monarch Plus RC3 Debonair shock . Shimano's new XT 1x11 drivetrain, Giant Contact SL Switch dropper post and a upgraded DT Swiss M1700 wheelset for 2016.

Giant's all rounder trail bike is our most popular suspension bike. With 140mm of rear suspension, this light and versatile bike is both a good descender and climber. The new Trance range gets a good spec upgrade for 2016, including Fox Factory Series Float 34s, meaning no more 32mm station forks for this season on the 3 higher models.

Trance Advanced 1 - Composite main frame with an aluminum rear triangle fitted to the new FOX 34 Float Factory fork and Fox Float Factory shock. Shimano's new XT 1x11 drivetrain, Giant Contact SL Switch dropper post and a Giant PTRX-1C 27.5 Composite wheelset make this the stand out model for 2016.	Trance 2 - Lightweight aluminum frame fitted to a Fox Float 32 fork with matching Fox Float shock. Shimano SLX 2x10 drivetrain, newly added Giant Contact SL Switch dropper post and a Giant SXC-2 wheelset will make this bike our biggest trail bikes for 2016.

Launched in 2014, LIV is Giant's standalone women’s specific range. Based off Giant's comprehensive range the LIV range is packed full of geometry and specifications designed just for women. New for this season is the addition of the Intrigue SX, a trail bike with a beefed up front end for the women’s Enduro category.

Brand new for 2016 the LIV Intrigue SX carries a lightweight aluminum frame fitted with a RockShox Pike RCT3 160mm up front and a RockShox Monarch Plus RC3 Debonair shock. SRAM's X1 1x11 drivetrain and Giant Contact SL Switch dropper post.	Lust 2 - Lightweight aluminum frame fitted to a Fox 32 Float fork with matching Fox Float Performance shock. Shimano Deore 2x10 drivetrain and Giant SXC-2 wheelset. The Lust 2 is packed full of Giants/LIV women's specific components and geometry.

Giant's most efficient, fast rolling bike the Anthem, is still available in both 27.5 and 29er wheel options. The 2016 29er Anthem receives a new aluminum rear end with a bolt-through 142x12mm axle, and a stronger top tube and seat tube junction which will be greatly received.

Anthem X 29er 2 - Lightweight aluminum frame fitted with a Fox 32 Float Performance 29 fork and Fox Float Performance shock. Shimano's XT 2x10 drivetrain, Shimano SLX Hydraulic brakes and a Giant PXC-2 29er wheelset makes this a seriously fast cross country bike.	Anthem Advanced SX - Composite main frame with aluminum rear triangle in bright yellow fitted with a RockShox Revelation RL fork and RockShox Monarch RT Debonair shock. SRAM's X1 1x11 drivetrain, Giant Contact SL Switch dropper post and Giant PTRX-1C 27.5 Composite wheelset.

Giant’s XTC hardtail range remains unchanged for 2016, available in both 27.5 and 29er wheel options this will be a popular lineup for die hard hardtail fans and weight weenies. 

XTC Advanced 1 29er - One of our most popular hardtail's. Giant Composite frame and post fitted with a FOX 32 Float Performance 29 fork and Shimano's new XT 1x11 drivetrain and hydraulic brakes. Giant PXC-2 29er wheelset.	XTC Advanced SL 27.5 1 - Who doesn't love Yellow? Giant's Composite SL frame fitted with a RockShox SID RL fork. SRAM's X1 1x11 drivetrain, SRAM's new Guide RS hydraulic brakes and a Giant PXCR-1C 27.5 Composite wheelset makes this a very well spec'ed hardtail.

Giant's Glory Downhill range gets newly added composite models, shaving 200g from the frame and delivering a ride quality that carbon bikes are known for - less fatigue and more precision.
