Liv is the Giant's women specific brand, established by women, for women. What I love about Liv is the people and the foundation that it has been built upon. Liv, as a community, is whole-heartedly interested in growing character, developing confidence and inspiring ladies to achieve more than they think they can. Being a Liv ambassador means I am lucky enough to be a part of this movement, which is new and exciting for Women and everyone who supports us!
The values that Liv is based upon are ones which build communities and form an environment where everyone can develop and grow while being genuinely supported by others. I want to bring this ideology into practice in Canterbury.
To start, this is to be in the form of a monthly bunch ride for women based in Christchurch. The goal is that women of any age, cycling ability, financial backing and fitness can get together to share their love of cycling with each other. We will endeavor to develop an atmosphere where women can come to enjoy a sense of community through being a part of something, and to make friends that share similar interests. We will teach bunch riding skills and create a place where women can develop knowledge that will give them the confidence to bunch ride socially, at a club, in races and at on-going Liv Rides.
We hosted our first Liv Ride last Saturday, which started from our Papanui Store. Ten lovely ladies stepped out and came to enjoy themselves on what turned out to be a stunning Canterbury morning. We rode a 27km loop at a social pace, leaving nobody behind. The route went through Christchurch and around the back of the airport and back to Pushbikes. Some of the ladies were brand new to road bikes, some had done a little bit of riding and want to learn how to bunch ride and a couple were there just to be involved and support everyone which was very helpful!
The next Liv Ride will be Saturday, May 21st at 9am. If you are interested in joining us feel free to ask about the ride when you are in store or flick me a message on Facebook.
